Let Me Introduce Myself!
My name is Fiona and mama of two wonderful (and mad!) children. My daughter Cara, is 3 years old and my son Aedan, is nearly 2 years old. I am also a Sleepy Lambs Sleep Consultant.
Our household is absolute carnage most days, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. (Well, maybe a night in a hotel on my own – that would be heaven).
We all know how crazy life can be between working (be it in a company, or a stay at home parent), looking after our babies, looking after our house (although I am certainly not big on housework), and looking after your relationship with your other half, trying to ensure that you don’t forget who you are as a couple!
It’s all soooooo exhausting!
Add on top of that ……….no sleep!!!!!!
I have always been OBSESSED with sleep, even B.C (before children!).
I did, and still will, snooze whenever possible. Then I became a Mum, and even though everyone says “get as much sleep now, because you won’t get any when the baba is born”, nothing can prepare you for the tiredness you feel when it actually happens. It is completely different to any other tiredness!
My daughter wasn’t too bad in fairness to her. My son though – oh my son – he gave us all a run for our money. The poor munchkin had reflux pretty much from birth, and even when we had that under control, he used to wake every two hours at night. He was grumpy, my husband and I were grumpy (I cried alot!).
I knew something had to change.
Because of this experience we had with our son, it led me to my current profession as a Sleep Consultant. It was meant to be.
Aedan is an absolutely awesome sleeper now by the way!
It is now my goal and passion in life to help and support families to get through what I have been through myself, and help your little one’s have a more restful sleep. I understand how difficult it can be, and as much as we cherish and adore our little ones, it is not selfish at all to want more sleep!
So, what do I do, and how do I support you?
Like me – when you become a parent, you probably also became obsessed with sleep, and more importantly, that your baby sleeping well.
Sleep is a basic biological bodily necessity we need to function in life both mentally and physically, exactly the same as eating. This also is the same for our little ones.
If we are not getting enough consolidated and restorative sleep, for a prolonged period of time, it has detrimental consequences.
There are so many conflicting reports from every angle – online, family, friends, the little old lady down the road – so many people have decided that they are the person to give you advice. For example: “don’t worry, they will grow out of it”, “you have plenty of time to catch up on your sleep when they are teenagers” and so on! (no doubt all of us have heard this at some point).
The fact is, is that sleep, just like walking, crawling, rolling, speaking and every other developmental milestone we encourage our children to achieve, is a learned behaviour.
IT IS OK TO WANT TO SLEEP BETTER. IT IS OK TO ASK FOR HELP.
Whatever we do as parents is our decision. However if long term sleep deprivation is affecting your daily life, and you want to change it – change it!
This is where I come in.
To help families, I will complete a full analysis of your little one and your daily activities including babies age, sleeping, nutrition, activities, parents working hours, sibling school runs, parenting preference and much more. There are so many variables and finding the cause of the sleep challenge is very important to ensure long term success. Safer sleep practices are always highly focused on during this time also.
I provide 1:1 help, support, encouragement and education to parents. I am here to give parents the tools that they can use forever, to ensure that their little one sleeps better, for their age of course, and as they grow.
I provide a very holistic and gentle approach and offer personalised sleep plans to work with your family’s needs, focusing very strongly on sleep science.
Supporting families is so amazing, however, it is not something that happens overnight. I offer different support packages from 3-6 weeks, dependent on how severe you feel your little one’s sleep challenge is. During this time, I will offer daily support with messages or emails and weekly calls to review everything. I will be with you every step of the way.
No matter what your parenting approach is and I will always work with your family’s needs and try and work around your daily life. Mental well being for your whole family is of the utmost importance throughout the entire time we work together.
Once you start seeing improvements with your little one’s sleep, you will also see how much happier your little one is, and how much happier you are as a parent. Life is just SO much easier when we are all well rested! You could even get that time back with your other half in the evenings to catch up on Netflix!
So, reach out! If you are an exhausted parent, I would absolutely love to meet you and your family, and support you get better sleep in no time! Contact me for a FREE consultation.
